Pastor, founder of the Oltalom Charitable Association, leader of the Hungarian Evangelical Brotherhood

His pastoral and public career is characterized by consistent solidarity with the downtrodden. With the Oltalom Charitable Association he founded, he continued to help those in need even when he and his institutions faced serious difficulties. In his work, religious conviction becomes a direct social responsibility.

The Oltalom Charitable Association has been providing social care in Józsefváros since 1989. It operates a 24-hour health center, specialist clinics, hospital and convalescent care, a psychiatric and rehabilitation department, physiotherapy and a social office. The institutions on Dankó Street, known as “Fűtött Utca”, provide night and day care, a soup kitchen and a temporary hostel for homeless people, and the association also participates in providing care for refugees. The association not only operates a street care service, but also supports the elderly and families in need, and participates in the education of children in several settlements. The Oltalom Sports Association uses sports to promote dialogue between social groups, conflict management and reintegration. Its work has created a complex care system that manages health, social, educational and community assistance in one unit. She provides not only temporary support to the most vulnerable, but also dignity, connection, and a chance to start over. Her personal resilience shows that the value of solidarity cannot be diminished by adverse circumstances.
